Thank you for helping me out with airing this PSA to the public. I appreciate it. Here is what to announce on behalf of the Navajo Police Department. 4.24.23 PUBLIC NOTICE FROM THE NAVAJO NATION EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER (EOC) FOR THOSE IMPACTED BY THE FLOODING IN CHINLE, AZ.

–If you are in need of food, water or sandbags, the Chinle Chapter House can help with these resources. **Please note there is a limited supply of sandbags per household. For more information: Chinle Chapter House (928) 674-2052/2054.

–For those who need shelter, an American Red Cross station has been set up at the Chinle Chapter House. For more 

information: Chinle Chapter House (928) 674-2052/2054.

–An Emergency Operation Center Call number has been set up for those who need to be evacuated and or those who need food and water (for those that are staying in their homes). Navajo Nation Emergency Operation Call

Center (928) 814-0619.

–For immediate emergency assistance, please call the Navajo Police Department-Chinle District at 928-674-2111/2112.

-If possible, please keep children away from any flooded area. There are deep sink holes and the water is unsafe due to water flooding into outhouses and sewage drainages.

Background Information:

On Friday, April 21, 2023, a local diversion berm broke in the Chinle area that caused the flooding. A emergency response came into effect that Friday by the Navajo Nation Office

of the President and Vice President.

The Navajo Police Department, the Navajo Department of Emergency Management, the Apache County Emergency Management, the Apache County Drone Unit, Chinle Chapter House officials, the Department of Health Community Health Representatives-Chinle, Chinle EMS, Navajo Nation Fire Department-Window Rock, Navajo Housing Authority, Indian Health Service, and other various agencies are currently assisting

families in the areas that have flooded. More updates will be provided once they become available.
