I started at KTNN along time ago. But here is how it all started....
I was born in Salt Lake City and moved back to the rez when I was about 6, maybe 5 years old. I grew up on my dad's ranch (legally, it's just a house on a piece of land that's part of the whole Navajo/Hopi dispute, but that's another story) in White Cone, AZ. Once a person said to me "When I jumped the cradle I was riding horses," that's how I describe my start in rodeos and raising horses. It's what I love! Although my mom is Zuni, my dad's traditional Navajo Family values are what drives me today.
After graduating from Holbrook High School in 1985, I moved on to college. I always thought of becoming a P.E. Teacher or a Coach, but when I finished up at Fort Lewis College in Durango with a degree in Exercise Science, I decided that there was more that I can do. One day a person told me I had a good phone voice, I credit that to my Communications Class, that's when I realized I did have a unique voice and I wanted to use it to help my Navajo People. This is when I began my journey on educating, broadcasting, and advocating to live a healthy lifestyle.

LA's sports broadcasts have earned her much recognition throughout the state of Arizona and the entire Southwest! Coverage of sportings events such as the ever popular High School Basketball Games, the NFL's Oakland Raiders, NBA's Phoenix Suns and WNBA Phoenix Mercury, or the National Finals Rodeo are all included in her vast broadcast resume. But one broadcast she remembers fondly is the coverage of the NFL's Superbowl XXX held in Tempe, AZ in 1996.
As KTNN's Sports Director, LA has traveled throughout the United States not only broadcasting sporting events but also advocating for 'Living a Healthy Lifestyle'. As a graduate of Fort Lewis College and earning her degree in Exercise Science and Communications, LA has led an example for athletes on the Navajo Nation by encouraging them to exercise daily and by having a well balanced diet.
You will hear LA's voice announcing the Daily Rodeo Reports, Local/Regional/National Sports Updates on both KTNN and KWRK Radio Stations. Her Monday evening two hour Sports Round-Up Show has become a listener favorite. Station Managers took notice and extended her show to Midnight. The "NEW" Show has yet to be named and features Native American Music from both Traditional and Contemporary Artists.
